12-04-2007 Ratings Update
The National League of Rollerchairball posted a ratings update that covers matches through December 4, 2007. The Top 15 players are noted on the home page at all times, but a full list of rated players can be found here.
Thanks to a monster week, Doug Tatz vaulted into third place, leapfrogging Taylor Greene. Tatz went 2-1 on the week, with the only loss coming alongside Andrew Wood against top-rated Kyle Stout and Top-15-stalwart, Brianna Stout. The loss actually gained Tatz and Wood points, since they narrowly lost to a team with a much higher average rating. The 20-17.5 loss and two wins netted Tatz more than 14 ratings points on the week. His beastly performance put him to within six points of idle Brandon Lock. If Tatz could catch and surpass Lock, he would truly enter a new level of stardom.
Also moving up was Andrew Wood, who inched up from fourth to third, also bypassing the top-rated lady of the league, Taylor Greene. As noted above, the close loss to Team Stout became one of the rare “victorious” losses for Wood. “The Long Arm of the Law” also piloted his teammates (Brianna Stout, Maggie Cellar) to a 3v3 win over Greene, Mackenzie Eckert, and Andrew Marin.
Though the loss caused a slight slip for Greene, the logjam that she, Tatz, and Wood have caused for months on end has not abated. Nineteen points separate the three players, which could conceivably be bridged in one game, should the lower-ranked player upset one of the other two or both. With the St. Nick Classic on the horizon and the mega points it can bring players, the battle for the top ranks of the NLR for 2007 is anything but over.
Brianna Stout only moved up one spot in the ratings list, but she made a giant leap points-wise. Thirteen points plus has put her in prime position to challenge for a spot in the Top 10. If she wants to get there, she will need to challenge Mackenzie Eckert, who reassumed a spot in the Top 10 after a 1-1 week with a quality loss and good win with her sister, Mary Eckert.
The biggest mover of the week was George Doyle, who scored an impressive 2v2 win and netted points in a 2v1 loss to Anja Ødegaard and Maggie Cellar. Doyle procured nearly seven points and rocketed four spots on the ratings list.
